Combe Inc. has announced a Series C investment in Virtue Labs, the fast-growing Raleigh, NC-based prestige hair care brand. The investment provides Virtue with capital for additional product innovation and to continue its rapid growth in prestige distribution around the world.
As a result of the latest investment round, Combe will now have majority ownership interest in the company, which was founded in 2017 by Melisse Shaban, a veteran of the premium personal care marketplace.
Virtue creates technology-based solutions for the health of hair and scalp through its patented hero ingredient, Alpha Keratin 60ku, which is found in each of the company’s Virtue hair care products.
Popular Science last year presented Virtue Labs with its “Best of What’s New Award.”
“Combe has invested in Virtue’s growth and development since its launch in 2017, and we are excited to continue to partner with the Virtue team in its mission of leveraging a differentiated technology to provide game-changing haircare products and solutions to women. Virtue’s mission, its ethos, its proprietary and disruptive technology, and transformative results are unique in an ocean of product-sameness, and we look forward to supporting its continued growth in the rapidly expanding prestige hair care market,” said Keech Combe Shetty, executive chair of Combe, Inc.
“Combe has been a valuable partner since our early days of commercialization, and their support will be instrumental to our growth and development as we continue to expand into prestige and e-commerce retailers around the world,” said Virtue CEO Shaban.
