Anti-stretchmark active is based on a tripeptide

Pentapharm is introducing its new anti-stretch marks active compound based on a synthetic tripeptide, panthenol and a marrubium vulgare extract.

Stretch marks, known as striae in dermatology, are scars occurring on specific skin surfaces. It is believed that stretch marks are due to quick stretching of the skin accompanied by quicker development such as puberty growth, fast weight gain, body-building, etc. Preventing stretch marks means strengthening the skin to face the large tensions it is subjected to during specific growth.

However, it is difficult to show the protecting effect of an ingredient during the development of the active ingredient. To overcome this obstacle, Pentapharm designed an in vitro screening model that is a simulation of skin stretching in a glass/acryl box by stretching a monolayer of fibroblasts’ cultures.

With this innovative method Pentapharm succeeded in identifying compounds capable to protect the skin as well as to reduce the inflammation process during stretching which are key elements in the prevention of stretch marks.  An additional in vitro screening carried out at BIOExigence in France confirmed the repairing effect of the identified ingredients.

In vivo tests confirm the anti stretch marks activity of Regu-Stretch. The material is offered as a paraben-free, glycerine-based aqueous solution. Regu-Stretch was thoroughly tested and is considered to be safe and appropriate for cosmetic applications.
