Microfine TiO2 with high efficacy against free radicals
Merck KGaA and its affiliate, the Rona cosmetic business unit, have introduced Eusolex T-PRO, a highly effective, transparent inorgranic UVA/UVB filter and an efficient radical scavenger. Eusolex T-PRO is a microfine titanium dioxide of the rutile modification, and provides the excellent broad spectrum UV filter performance expected from a modern inorganic sunscreen. It shows high transparency and superb dispersibility in cosmetic oils.
Thanks to a special manganese dioxide coating, the product is said to exhibit an outstanding degree of activity against free radicals which has been demonstrated in vivo in the beta-carotene test and ex vivo by means of the radical skin protection factor. Eusolex T-PRO efficiently protects beta-carotene against UVA-induced damage and provides a high radical skin protection factor compared to conventional inorganic UV filters, according to Merck.
