Patrons to return older models as part of campaign
The famous pink brand is going green. Mary Kay announced the Mary Kay Compact Recycling Drive to coincide with the launch of its new eco-friendly Mary Kay Compact. The new product features a refill system that is estimated to eliminate 60 million units of packaging, helping to cut more than 60,000 tons of carbon emissions.
Starting today, consumers are invited to turn in their previous platinum and pink Mary Kay Compacts for recycling—either by providing them to their independent beauty consultants or by going to www.marykay.com to find a local consultant.
For every compact returned, Mary Kay will plant a tree in the Bitterroot National Forest in Montana and Idaho through a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and under the direction of the U.S. Forest Service—with a goal of planting an entire forest. The new Mary Kay Compact, available with 18 million possible color combinations, also gives women the opportunity to "green" their beauty routine in another way.
