When it comes to what its products are packaged in, the company supports the California Plastics Free Initiative and has pledged to donate $50,000 to support a ballot initiative that would grant the state the authority to regulate disposable materials, reduce the volume of these materials that come into the state, and would place up to a one cent fee on single use packaging. Sales: $122 million (estimated).

A company that has long been focused on the being kind to the Earth, serving the greater good, and, of course, soap making, Dr. Bronner’s recorded $122.5 million in net revenues in 2018.  But other numbers show just how much the former issues matter to this family-run firm. Last year, Bronner’s gave away $8.8 million to more than 164 activist and charitable causes, and its minimum wage was $18.71 per hour for permanent positions, compared to California $11.00 per hour. In addition, Dr. Bronner’s planted 250,000+ oil and coconut palms sequestering approximately 16,000 MT of atmospherics CO2 offsetting 36% of Dr. Bronner’s 2018 Scope 3 emissions from agricultural production and processing. Plus, it is also 100% renewably powered through onsite solar and renewable energy certificates, and Dr. Bronner’s provides electric charging stations with free charges to employees along with a $1,000 incentive for staff who purchase electric vehicles. It is no wonder why Dr. Bronner’s has been recognized by Certified B Corp as one of the “Best for the World.” The firm scored a 177.8 in 2018—the third highest score ever received by a Certified B Corp.

In April, Dr. Bronner’s debuted a new short documentary film called “Journey to Pavitramenthe.” The second in the company’s “Journey” series—which documents the people and the stories behind the organic and fair trade supply chains for Dr. Bronner’s products—the film features Dr. Bronner’s partners in Bareilly, India, where more than 1,500 small-scale farmers use regenerative organic agriculture practices on farms that average less than 2 acres each in size.

According to the company’s estimates, 20% of its revenues come from international markets. Among its newest products is a peppermint hand sanitizing spray.
