Coty owns 20% of KKW Beauty, Kardashian West’s beauty business; it purchased its minority share for $200 million in a transaction that closed in January 2021. At the time, Sue Y. Nabi, Coty’s CEO, said that Kardashian West “shares our true passion for beauty products, and this acquisition allows us to leverage our respective strengths for mutual benefit and value creation. Coty brings unique IP in skincare, the scientific knowledge of the skin as reflected in our formulation know-how, while Kim brings a huge global following and unparalleled influence over consumer choice. She has a unique ability to read the latest beauty and wellness trends, while we have the expertise on global product positioning, access to a vast global distribution network, and the resources to enter new beauty categories. I look forward to working closely with Kim and her team and I’m excited by everything we will achieve together.”
In May, Coty Inc. named Andrew Stanleick CEO of the Kylie Cosmetics (founded by Kardashian’s little sister Kylie Jenner) and asked Stanleick to also manage Kim Kardashian West’s business, too. According to Coty, Stanleick will focus on driving global expansion and entry into new beauty categories while Kim and her team will continue to lead all creative efforts in terms of product and communication initiatives.

Kim Kardashian West, big sister of the creator of Kylie Cosmetics (no. 44), is the force behind KKW Beauty, her own brand of cosmetics, skin care and fragrances. The line debuted in 2017. The company was set to launch Nude Gloss and a new Classic II eyeshadow palette in mid-March, but announced it would delay the launched due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Sales: $107 million (estimated).
While her younger sister Kylie may have had more success with her eponymous beauty brand (Kylie Cosmetics, ranked No. 32 in The Top 50), Kim Kardashian West is no slacker when it comes to selling cosmetics. Industry pundits say her company, KKW Beauty, tallied revenues above $100 million last year. Her fragrance business, KKW Fragrance, has proved successful too.
And there’s reason to believe this reality star-turned-entrepreneur will take a deeper dive into the beauty business. In a December 2018 interview with Fashonista’s Stephanie Saltzman, Kardashian West said she would like to expand into hair and skin care, too.
KKW Body—one of Kardashian West’s most recent scents, which is housed in a torso-shaped bottle modeled after her own—was a finalist in the Fragrance Foundation’s Fragrance of the Year (Women’s popular) and Packaging of the Year (Women’s) categories this past year.
To bring KKW Beauty products to the market, Kardashian West works with Seed Beauty, a privately-held company based in Oxnard, CA.
