PDC Brands, which is owned by affiliates of CVC and Leonard Green & Partners and its management, has named Alex Tosolini as its new chief executive officer. Prior to taking on the role in February, he had been senior vice president of new business development at the Kroger Company. He replaces James Stammer, who had been CEO and served on the board directors for 15 years.

Last Fall, PDC led the $4 million Series A funding round for Love Wellness, a brand that targets feminine health issues selling a range of products from OTC suppositories to intimate cleansers to supplements to skin care.

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome PDC as a strategic partner for Love Wellness as we continue to define and change the personal care category for women’s health, Love Wellness Founder Lauren Bosworth said when the funding was announced. The capital was designed to help Love Wellness invest in marketing and expand its staff and retail footprint.

PDC Brands has a new owner as private equity firm Yellow Wood Partners signed a definitive agreement to sell the Stamford, CT-based provider of beauty, personal care and wellness brands to CVC Capital Partners. The deal was announced in May.

It was good run at Yellow Wood, according to Dana Schmaltz, founding partner of the private equity company.  “During our partnership with PDC Brands the company grew dramatically with revenues growing over 4x and EBITDA growing over 5x over the last five years,” she said in a press statement.  “The strong performance has been driven by strong organic sales growth combined with the addition of five acquisitions of nine brands that were added to the portfolio. With these efforts, the company has emerged as a global leader providing unique and innovative beauty and personal care products that connect with today’s consumers. Yellow Wood is extremely appreciative of the partnership built with CEO James Stammer and the senior management team at PDC, and particularly the collaboration, creativity and exceptional performance of the entire PDC team.”

According to Schmaltz, “The time is right time for PDC to become a key part of a larger partnership with access to all the global resources CVC brings to take PDC to the next level.  We wish our good friends continued success.”

Cameron Breitner, a partner at CVC, added, “We are excited about this rare opportunity to acquire a rapidly growing, multinational consumer products platform with a strong portfolio of brands and a proven management team. We greatly look forward to working with James Stammer and his team as they extend their exceptional track record of acquiring and expanding consumer brands.”

Just before the transfer to CVC, Melissa Cantey joined PDC Beauty as Cantu’s new communications manager. She takes on this new post after a year of serving as Cantu’s national brand ambassador.
