Elmwood Park, NJ 201.791.7600 www.sealedair.com Sales: $2.0 billion for I&I products. Corporate sales: $7.0 billion. Key Personnel: Jerome Peribere, president and chief executive officer; Dr. Ilham Kadri, president, Diversey Care; Carol Lowe, senior vice president and chief financial officer; Robert Tatterson, vice president, R&D and chief technology officer; Emile Chammas, senior vice president and chief supply chain officer. Major Products: Cleaning and hygiene solutions and services, sold under the Diversey and Taski names, that are used in commercial, institutional and industrial facilities. New Products: Sure 100% biodegradable cleaning products, Pro Series cleaning solutions, Taski IntelliTrail monitoring system, IntelliConsult food safety management platform, Diversey Express. Comments: I&I sales fell 8% last year, but corporate sales were worse, falling 9.3%. I&I results were better in Q1 2016, as iversey Care’s sales were up 1.7% with gains in all regions, but corporate sales fell 8.9% to $1.6 billion. Diversey leadership hopes to maintain that momentum by focusing on technology. Last year Sealed Air acquired a portion of Intellibot Robotics LLC, a privately-held company that manufactures commercial floor cleaning robots. At the time of the acquisition, Dr. Ilham Kadri, president, Diversey Care, noted that the move positions Diversey Care as the first hygiene and cleaning player to enter the industrial robotics arena. “Our industry expertise, global reach, design and manufacturing capabilities combined with Intellibot’s groundbreaking artificial intelligence technology will help accelerate the development of the robotic floor cleaning machines market—ultimately driving efficiencies and business value for our industry,” Kadri insisted. Kadri and company are counting on the Internet of Things (IofT) to lead to an Internet of Clean (IoC), where robotics and technology converge with cleaning solutions to make hygienic systems more effective and easier to use. Speaking at ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam, Kadri explained IoC’s role is to connect machines, beacons, and other smart devices to aid operational performance, food safety, infection prevention, and customer satisfaction. Imagine having critical data accessible 24/7 without needing to be onsite. “With our Internet of Clean solutions, you can access information about machine location, dispensing levels, ware washing results and more,” explained Kadri. Diversey Care’s Suma Revoflow, a closed, compact off-the-floor dishwashing system won the Amsterdam Innovation Award. Last month, the company introduced the Diversey Express range of single-use packets of concentrated cleaning solutions, containing exact doses to ensure the right amount is used each time. This approach limits both water and chemical consumption, leading to cost reductions of up to 30%. Diversey Express is aimed at smaller food service facilities.

Sales: $2.1 billion for I&I products. Corporate sales: $7.7 billion.
Corporate sales and Diversey Care’s sales each rose less than 1% last year. Within the Diversey Care business, the modest gains were attributed to higher unit volumes in Asia, Middle East, Africa and Turkey (AMAT), North America and Latin America. These gains were partially offset by lower sales in Europe.
The company produces Diversey Care products in 18 manufacturing facilities; four in North America, five in Europe, three in Latin America, five in AMAT and one in the Japan, Australia, New Zealand region (JANZ).
In February, Diversey Care inked a five-year deal with Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing hotel companies. It represents a significant expansion from the previous four-year Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) contract and includes Diversey Care’s full suite of innovate products and services designed to meet Carlson Rezidor’s commitment to sustainability and high level of customer satisfaction, according to the company. The Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group portfolio includes more than 1,300 hotels in 105 countries and territories.
For the first quarter of 2015, corporate sales fell 4.4% to $1.7 billion. Diversey Care’s sales fell 7.4% due to unfavorable exchange rates. Volume was flat and price/mix contributed 1.7%. Positive volume trends in North America and AMAT were offset by a slight decline in Europe and mid-single digit declines in Latin America, according to the company.
Sales: $2.2 billion for I&I products. Corporate sales: $7.7 billion. Net income: $124 million.
The 2012 acquisition of Diversey has been completely integrated into Sealed Air’s business scheme. The division is now called Diversey Care and accounted for 29% of the company’s sales last year. In 2013, Diversey Care sales rose 2% due to a favorable product price/mix. The increase was primarily due to pricing actions in Latin America. Moreover, the division reported an operating profit of $58 million, compared to a loss of $1.3 billion in 2012.
Last fall, Diversey Care’s global headquarters in Sturtevant, WI was LEED-Gold Certified. The site features native prairie plants and restored wetlands on more than half of its 57 acres, according to the company.
For the first quarter of 2014, Diversey Care’s sales fell 1.5% to $505 million. However, corporate sales increased nearly 3% to $1.8 billion.
In May, thanks to help from Diversey Care, grocery retailer Hy-Vee, Inc. has been presented RFID Journal magazine’s 2014 Best Use of RFID to Enhance a Product or Service Award. Hy-Vee was recognized for its implementation of Sealed Air Diversey Care’s TempTRIP cold-chain management system. Hy-Vee used the system’s RFID tags to monitor the temperature of perishable foods at its distribution centers, transport carriers, and retail store locations.
Just last month, Diversey Care announced that is has fulfilled its commitment with the World Wildlife Fund’s Climate Savers program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In 2009, Diversey Care committed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25% below 2003 levels over the next four years. At the end of 2013, Diversey Care operations reported a 48% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2003 levels. Diversey Care credited this improvement to converting its North American fleet to higher efficiency vehicles, installing a fuel cell and wind turbines at the company’s North American headquarters, and using green building principles in the design and operation of all leased and built facilities.
