In 2013, Seth Uhrman assumed the role of chief executive officer, the fourth generation of the founding family to lead State Industrial Products since it began in 1911. Under his leadership, the company is rapidly expanding the use of technology to build value for the wide array of I&I customers. For example, the Cost Save Analysis tool enables State Chemical account managers to generate a sophisticated cost comparison summary for users of wide ranging products with varying dilution ratios. As a result, I&I users can implement facility maintenance programs that minimize cost without compromising efficacy.
In terms of new products, last year State introduced the One Solution Cleaning Cadet, a compact, versatile cleaning cart designed to be used in all facility areas. The compact design is fully mobile and allows users to efficiently and effectively clean surfaces in a fraction of the time it takes using conventional cleaning methods.
Early in 2014, State launched an initiative to bring market specific facilities maintenance programs to the corrections industry. The key components of this focus are highly secure dispensing systems and carefully curated products that ensure maximum cleaning and inmate population health with minimum safety risk. In addition, a unique line of cleaning equipment dubbed “Shank-Free” that is exceptionally rugged and impossible to form into weapons was introduced.

With facilities throughout the US, Canada and Puerto Rico, State Industrial Products has an established reputation as a leading manufacturer and distributor of specialty chemical products, systems and programs for cleaning and maintenance markets. Since 1911, the company has been committed to enhancing building environments, improving equipment productivity and helping customers“care for work environments.”
Last July, State Industrial Products divested its UZ Engineered Products division, a transaction that State said represented a unique opportunity “to embolden its growth strategy. “ Coupled with State’s entry into the ware wash market, an award winning green product line, and investments in state of the art production and distribution facilities, the divestiture provided an excellent opportunity to intensify its chemical strategy, the company said.
In addition, State continues to focus on the North American roll-out of the Circle of Service program, a five-step program that begins with a facility survey and progresses to specific solutions, program installation, staff training and ongoing service and support. Customers benefiting from the Circle of Service report improved operations reduced costs and increased satisfaction from the users and occupants of the facility, according to the company.

Privately held State Industrial Products says sales continue to grow steadily as it approaches a major milestone—its 100th year in business in Cleveland, OH.
As it honors its past, the company is committed to the future of the I&I business—green products. State Industrial also offers products awarded EPA Design for the Environment (DfE) certification and EcoLogo certification.
To further bolster its green offerings, last year the company doubled production capacity by purchasing a 200,000-sq.ft. manufacturing facility in Hebron, OH.
“The purchase of the Hebron manufacturing facility is an important and exciting step in the ongoing growth and success of State Industrial Products,” said Hal Uhrman, chief executive officer. “The added capacity will improve our ability to provide exceptional customer service and allow us to broaden our rapidly growing ‘green’ product line.”
