Sales: $375 million

Sales: $375 million for personal care. Corporate sales: $1.1 billion.

Personal care accounts for about 37% of sales at The Hain Celestial Group Inc. The firm has opened a new manufacturing facility in Bell, CA, a LEED-certified site that it says will be a great asset in the development of personal care products.

In other news, Hain Celestial recently launched a clean, high-performance prestige beauty brand, Fountain of Truth, in October 2018. The line is available at Ulta and HSN, and via ecommerce.

While many know Giuliana Rancic from E! News, she’s also a beauty entrepreneur. After being diagnosed with breast cancer at 36, Rancic was determined to find skin care products that were, her words, “safe to use.” Rancic wanted to create an inclusive line that provided clean, effective and gentle skin care solutions for people of all ages and ethnicities. So, she teamed up with Hain Celestial to make create Fountain of Truth. The brand’s hero technology is the Bio-Ferment Complex of fermented botanical- and earth-derived ingredients of zinc, iron, copper, magnesium and wakame seaweed, which helps to achieve more luminous skin.

In the US, if you are eating, snacking or drinking something with an organic/natural or healthy slant, there’s a good chance Hain Celestial owns the brand. On the company’s roster are brands such as Rice Dream, Celestial Seasonings, Garden of Eatin’, Terra Chips and Earth’s Best Baby to name just a few. But this Melville, NY-based firm also has several in natural/organic personal care companies under its umbrella. Its range includes skin, hair and oral care, deodorants, baby care, acne treatments and sunscreens. There’s even a few home care products in the mix now too, as Earth’s Best offers wipes and a spray nursery cleaner.

All told, personal care products accounted for approximately 8% of Hain’s consolidated net sales in 2012. However, it is a shrinking portion of the company’s portfolio; personal care sales represented 10% of sales in both 2011 and 2010.

Alba Botanica, Avalon Organics, Jason and Earth’s Best personal care products are manufactured in Culver City, CA.
