Direct seller Yanbal touts beauty and personal care products as well as jewelry, a business that appears to a focus for its US sales expansion efforts that are currently underway. In March, Yanbal USA acquired Lulu Avenue,  a direct sales jewelry business.

Founded in 1967, Yanbal is known for production of cosmetics, makeup, body care products, fragrances and jewelry. The company has a presence in eight Latin American countries (Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela) and in two European countries (Italy and Spain).

Yanbal has five manufacturing facilities and is ranked No. 17 in the global 100 list of the Direct Selling Association. Yanbal’s newest fragrance is Liberatta, which features notes of iris, vanilla and white orchid.

Yanbal has jumped in the ranks on the Direct Selling Association’s Global 100 list, moving up two rungs to the No. 15 spot.

The company, which boasts 390,000 sales people and 6,100 employees, announced a $70 million investment plan to open a fragrance production facility near its Tenjo, Colombia site.

With operations in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Parguay, Venezuela, and, of course, Peru, Yanbal International is one of the largest personal care companies in Latin America, and it also has operations in the US, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.

Fernando and his brother Eduardo founded direct-sales company Yanbal in 1967, but 20 years later they went their separate ways after a disagreement about company strategy. Eduardo went on to found Belcorp and competes head-to-head with his brother, who renamed his company Yanbal International.

Last year, the company had sales of $815 million, putting it at No. 17 in the Direct Selling News’ Global 100 direct sellers.
