Brenntag India Opens Green Warehouse in Northern India

Brenntag, a global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, has opened a new, state-of-the-art green warehouse, purposed-built for Brenntag India by Harshna Agro Fresh Pvt. Ltd, an expert in supply chain and logistics solutions.

The Brenntag green warehouse is a single-story facility with ambient and cold storage space as well as ancillary office space to serve Brenntag’s customers from various industries such as pharma, nutrition, beauty and care, material science and others.

Harshna has received the Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) advanced certification, in recognition of its outstanding commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly practices. EDGE is a globally recognized green building certification system developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. It is designed to help buildings achieve resource efficiency in energy, water and materials to make buildings more sustainable, cost-effective and environmentally friendly.

The accomplishment marks a major milestone in Brenntag’s commitment to set new benchmarks for sustainability practices within the chemical industry. Located in the city of Sonipat, about 50 kilometers from Central Delhi, in the Northern State of Haryana, India and it will serve over 70% of Brenntag’s customers in northern India efficiently and sustainably, which were motivating factors for consolidating all existing warehouses in North India under the new warehouse facility, officials said.

“During the conceptualization phase, we focused on selecting an optimal location with excellent transport connections and incorporating sustainability aspects,” said Alok Sharman, managing director of Brenntag India. “The warehouse features specially insulated walls to enhance energy efficiency, and we maximize the use of natural lighting to reduce energy consumption. We implemented a well-designed natural ventilation system to minimize the need for air conditioning, even in the hot climate of India. Additionally, we installed solar panels and a water harvesting system to conserve resources.”
