ELC Rolls Out New Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Overnight Treatment

A second-skin texture formula features an exclusive “night peptide” to help optimize skin’s natural rhythm of renewal.

Estée Lauder is upping the ante in nighttime skin care by adding a new overnight treatment to the Advanced Night Repair franchise.

Hitting the market today, Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Overnight Treatment is said to cocoon skin with a silky, second-skin texture and deliver triple-action recovery to help restore skin’s visible energy, moisture and barrier.

ELC says the new formula builds on 40-plus years of night science expertise to activate skin’s youth and refuel energy when skin is at its most receptive state—at night.

“We know that skin is completely biologically different from day to night. Estée Lauder’s ongoing research into skin’s unique night biology, with our latest discovery that skin needs energy at night, led to the development of the new Advanced Night Repair Overnight Treatment,” said Dr. Pernodet, senior vice president, bioscience, global R&D. “The new Advanced Night Repair Overnight Treatment features an exclusive Night Peptide and New ATPower Technology, providing skin with the energy it needs to maximize its natural overnight repair processes.”

“What also makes this product truly unique is the silky, ultra-cushioning texture; it melts upon application to create a breathable, cocooning, “second-skin” seal that locks in the nighttime skincare regimen and helps skin look like it got 2 nights of sleep in 1,” added Pernodet.

In one night, skin looked 13% smoother, 28% more radiant and 13% less lined, according to data shared by ELC from clinical testing inclusive of 33 women, after onne product application at night, measured after 12 hours.

The Formula

The treatment features ATPower Technology to boost skin’s visible energy; multi-molecular weight hyaluronic acid + polyglutamic acid (PGA) for intense moisture recovery; a 13% “Lipid Infusion” for barrier recovery; and an exclusive “night peptide” to help optimize skin’s natural rhythm of renewal.

The formula visibly activates triple recovery every night, resulting in 58% moisture recovery, +40% barrier strength, and 13% smoother feeling, according to the brand.

ATPower Technology is comprised of key energy-boosting ingredients including succinic acid and artemia extract to support Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). Boosting skin’s energy results in a halo of visible benefits across skin—elasticity is improved, texture is smoothed and radiance is restored, says ELC.

The formula contains high molecular weight hyaluronic acid that helps plump the top surface of skin; low molecular weight hyaluronic acid that activates skin’s own levels of hyaluronic acid; and polyglutamic acid (PGA) to help prevent the breakdown of skin’s own hyaluronic acid.

Further, a 13% “Lipid Infusion” comprised of shea and cocoa butters helps with barrier recovery, according to the brand. The formula strengthens skin’s barrier at its most receptive state, resulting in 40% barrier recovery by morning, said ELC.

The brand’s exclusive “Night Peptide” helps to optimize skin’s natural rhythm of renewal.

Cushioning Texture

To develop the unique texture of Advanced Night Repair Overnight Treatment, the formula was expertly crafted with precision heat and then cooled. The silky, ultra-cushioning texture melts upon application to create a breathable, cocooning “second-skin” seal that locks in the nighttime skincare regimen and helps optimize visible age recovery,  according to the brand.

Users apply a thin layer all over face and neck, ideally after a repair serum and moisturizer, as the last step of a nighttime skincare routine, according to ELC.

In clinical testing, data showed +58% moisture (26 women, after 1 product application); +40% barrier strength (32 women, 2 hours after 1 product application); and +28% visible energy (33 women, after 1 product application at night, measured after 12 hours).

From Launch Pad to Space: Advanced Night Repair’s History

Estée Lauder’s original Advanced Night Repair debuted in 1982. In 2008, ELC sold 1.6 million bottles of Advanced Night Repair serum—equating to just about three every minute.

Since the product’s debut, ELC has expanded the franchise with products such as  Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II (2013) and Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex (2018).

An iteration even launched into space with NASA in 2020, as reported by Happi.
