Unilever Ventures Invests in Microbiome Body Care Brand Luna Daily

Katy Cottam’s fast-rising brand also counts Mintel’s Jane Henderson as an angel investor.

Unilever Ventures is part of the latest investment round at fast-growing microbiome body care brand Luna Daily.

The investment comes alongside follow-on investment from existing partners, Redrice Ventures and Joyance Partners as well as new angel investors Michelle Kennedy (founder of Peanut), Aaron Chatterley (co-founder of Feelunique, Indu), Jane Henderson (chairman of Beauty & Wellness, Mintel), and Taos Edmondson (dmg ventures, Focal).

Luna Daily’s Growth

Luna Daily reported +1000% YoY increase in sales in 2023, according to officials.

The company bills itself as a microbiome balancing body care brand. Its product line contains a complex made of thermal water, prebiotics and vitamins designed to protect the skin’s microbiome.

Unilever’s investment comes on the heels of Luna Daily’s recent expansion into new category with its Motherhood Collection. The new launch is rolling out in Sephora, marking a new category for the beauty retailer, as reported by Happi.com

“I’m thrilled to announce Unilever Ventures as our newest investment partner. The collaboration will bring their unparalleled global expertise and resources, at such an exciting time for Luna Daily’s growth. This collaboration feels incredibly organic, as we have been in conversations with Unilever Ventures since the inception of Luna Daily. Their support of our vision to cater to all ages and stages of womanhood, including our newest category of motherhood, made this the perfect time to begin our partnership,” said Cottam.

“We are excited by how Katy has elevated the consumer experience of body wash and care with her microbiome balancing formulations for all skin. She used her own experience to create an offering that cares for women’s bodies in their entirety and for all stages of womanhood. We think that is a powerful and empowering idea. Daily routines have now been transformed into desirable rituals,” said Anna Ohlsson-Baskerville at Unilever Ventures.
