Rhode To Launch First Cleanser

Rhode is hitting the refresh button and breaking out the pineapples as they break into the cleanser category.

Pineapple Refresh, $28, dispenses as a balm that bubbles when mixed with water. The balm contains sea buckthorn oil which gives the product its yellow hue.

On Jan. 25, the brand, founded by model Hailey Bieber, will launch its first facial cleanser called “Pineapple Refresh.”

A special marketing campaign for the new cleanser features a sultry snorkeling trip to the Bahamas with fellow models Ajok Daing, Candice Swanepoel and Bianca Blakeney.

The cleanser, which retails for $28, marks the dermatologist-tested beauty brand’s fifth product, after its Glazing Milk essence, Peptide Glazing Fluid serum and Barrier Restore Cream moisturizer, among others.

The product is dispensed as a balm before creating a bubbly lather when mixed with water. It serves the dual-purpose of a cleanser and makeup remover. Sea buckthorn oil gives the product its yellow hue, which aligns with its pineapple concept.

Other actives include polyglutamic acid, a hydrator known for its potent humectant properties. Pineapple enzymes gently exfoliate without disrupting the skin barrier, per the brand.

Bieber told media that the cleanser is safe for use on sensitive skin. Bieber said she has perioral dermatitis and certain cleansers trigger an outbreak.

“Enzymes have always been great for my sensitive, perioral-trigger-happy skin, so that was how we came to the conclusion [to include] a gentle fruit enzyme,” she said.
